Q2 of 2000: 40% of US households look for medical or health information on the net.(Forrester Research) In April 2001, Harris Interactive estimated that almost 75% of adults online look for healthcare information on internet. Assuming we could use the same ratio for the Belgian audience, it would mean that the potential audience for health websites in Belgium is 2 000 000 million people !!! Although we do not have such figures yet,
a recent poll on Medinet.be showed that people on the internet use it
as a preferred source of information on health related issues. Internet is an interactive, reactive, cost-effective and measurable media Interactive: advertising on the Internet makes it possible for the customer to make up his mind and interact at once with the product. No other medium will give such an instant and easy accessibility. Reactive: At any moment on the Internet, you can update in real-time your advertising campaign and you measure straight away the efficiency of your message Cost-effective and measurable: when
doing on-line advertising you only pay for what you get. When the campaign
ends, you know very accurately how many times your banners/buttons have
been shown. Internet allows one-to-one marketing By using tools such as newsletters, personalised home pages, forums, you can realise that the internet is the ideal media to build a one to one relationship with your custumers.
A recent survey from CyberAtlas
also showed that online advertising is set to enjoy more growth than other
forms of advertising. Online ad spending will grow by about 10 percent
this year, reaching USD4.73 billion. Growth will reach 12 percent in 2002,
15 percent in 2003, 20 percent in 2004, 15 percent in 2005, 18 percent
in 2006.
